CAS Participates in Regional Conference on the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Employment and Entrepreneurship
Inclusive work environments continue to pose a major challenge to empowering persons with disabilities and promoting fair employment opportunities for all. In this context, the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS), represented by its Director General, Mrs. Maria Nalbandian, participated in a regional conference held today at the United Nations House in Beirut, where ESCWA, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), launched the Arab Charter for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Employment and Entrepreneurship. On the second day of the conference, Mrs. Tamara Maalouf delivered a presentation entitled “The Philosophy Behind the Numbers: A Reading of Disability Data in Lebanon”, in which she discussed the importance of data in understanding the reality of disability, the challenges related to its collection and analysis, and its role in shaping more inclusive and equitable policies. This Charter represents a collective regional commitment to strengthening inclusive employment and entrepreneurship systems. It aims to mobilize advanced commitments from the private sector to support the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labor market through concrete, responsible, and measurable actions, in line with international standards.
